Big-eyed trevally are an integral part of the diverse marine life ecosystem, travelling in large daytime schools while remaining solitary at night. When capturing this particular image on the edge of the reef, out of nowhere these iridescent fish flashed before my lens in a hurry, seemingly spooked by a large predator that lurked somewhere in the depths of the ocean below.

It fascinates me to see nature playing out in this way, showing that fish react in exactly the same way us humans do when sensing a threat; fight, flight or freeze. It’s my hope that my underwater photography captures the essence of this story of survival.
