I was diving at the Great Barrier Reef on an underwater photography shoot when I was lucky enough to encounter these beautiful anemone fish - otherwise called clown anemone fish. True to how they are depicted in the popular film ‘Finding Nemo’, these anemone fish were both cautious and curious about my presence, darting in and out of the anemone they called home.
I was particularly pleased with how this image captures the relationship between these anemone fish and the anemone; their symbiotic relationship means they depend upon each other, protecting one another from predators. With my underwater photography I love to tell a story, and the proximity of the fish to the anemone, and their watchful angling towards my camera, tells a quiet story of vigilance and the determination to protect what’s precious. The bravery of these little fish was incredibly inspiring.
