If I were to point to one of my images as an example of the purity of a mother’s love, it would be this wall art. I was lucky enough to witness the bond between this particular humpback whale mother and calf when diving in the deep blue waters of Vava'u in the Kingdom of Tonga.
Look closely and you’ll note the proximity of the calf to its mother; the contrast of the mother’s large protective presence next to the calf’s smaller, innocent frame. In fact, part of the reason why I wanted to name this photography Commitment was because of the beautiful, invisible ties between this mother and child. Her silent devotion to her child’s protection and safety.
